Purple cypher - The battle of Midway, and philosophy of language.

The battle of Midway and purple cypher- a bit of history

Six months after the Perl harbor attack during WW2 Japan plotted another attack. This time in Midway, another tactical US naval base. As Japanese navy could not wipe out US aricraft carriers during the Perl Harbor attack as they were out in the open pacific Ocean. So, the Japanese commondar Isoroku Yamamoto was assigned the task of destroying US strongholds in pacific, by luring the remaining US fleet to defend the Midway. He had planned a small attack at Midway just to attract and defend, driving a larger force behind. Yet unknown to Japanese Imperial army, US intelligence has had already cracked their secret code and knew all their attack plans prior. And the result was devastating for Japanese army as they were faced by unexpected counterattack by US aricrafts, which were airbone before they even had their last meal before the battle.

As you can see, crypted messages played a huge role in favour of US during the battle of Midway.

Philosophy of language

Japanese had been using a sophisticated cyper which is called "Purple Cypher" during the WW2. Even if you get these messages they would not convey any meaning unless you know how to read the code. Just like listening to a foreign language which you cannot decode yet because you do not have the purple cypher in your brain. Imagine you are watching some documentary in Japanese and you do do not know the language. It would make no sense as it is just another crypted message for you. The question is why? Why it would not make no sense is because it has no meaning. A language does not have a meaning by default. It is just a collection of sounds. The meaning for a language is given by your mind. This can be considered fundemental philosophy of a language. When you hear the word "T r e e" japanese mind would not give any meaning. It is just a sound. But for someone who learned english, It captures a big concept. Even the past, and the future are represented by our language. Infact language is made to represent human feelings, and in an attempt to replicate them in another mind. Some would say this is the greatest human invention. I doubt that As I know about something better which is pen and paper.

Yesterday when I was driving I touched my ear. And this maybe about few weeks since I was aware of my own ear. I wanted to give it some thought, and thought "Why do we have two ears?". What do you think? If it wasn't for ears we would not have a language, atleast not in the current form of it. There would be no music, and news would be a slient film. If we do not have ears essentially the world would be a silent place. Imagine a slient world. Humans might not have survived enough to feed themselves out of the jungle if it wasn't for ears. So, if anything has helped for the origins of languae I would say its our ears, the ability to recognise sounds. But here is another thought. If there would be no sound without ears, I wonder there are actual sounds in the world.

Are there sounds in the world?

I would say no. There are no sounds in the world stand alone, only moving "molecules". If sounds cannot exist without the ears, ears should be part of the sound. But we separate this from the sounds for some reason. What about language? Language cannot exist without a consciousness, so it also doesn't exist stand alone. The problem is we can do this to everything we know. Nothing would exist without your awareness, relative to you. Hence your so called relative world is your own reality. The world and you cannot be two different things. I know at this time I am far beyond "The philosopy of Language and Mideway battle" But as you can see, it is essential to understand and have a clear idea about the world and who we are to enjoy the film called life fully. There is a point I was trying to tell you. And when I look back I find out that I do not even to have word this out. Consider the following quote from Thich Nat Hanh one of the greatest mindfulness teachers of our time.

"Enlightenment is when the wave realise it is the sea"

There is a real question this knowlege gives me. How can we make sense of the world using a language which apperently has no meaning by itself? I can see I canot go anywhere with this if it is my approach to solve problems of life by words.
