On a tree top - Poem
I was on my way to work other day, when I heard a weep.
A child hung up on the bough, ignoring his mother's cries,
Mischievous he was with shimmery little eyes.
Until she gave up, and left, when he slunk down the tree.
Like a monkey in quick and agile moves
He disappeared into the dark chasing a fowl, into the thick brackens.
Such a free spirit, it was, I stared a minute where he went.
He didn't come back, I was late for work when I left.
Why should you climb a tree? My experience
If you really want to look at a world in a different point of view you should climb a tree. When I was a kid I used to climb trees, not very tall ones, tall enough to sit and watch, tall enough to see the roof of our house. I can remember, myself always a chesty wheezy kid, but hated those tonic tasty syrup my mom used to make me swallow. I can remember myself climbing on top of a tree and my mom trying to get me down in vain. I would stay as long as I could to avoid medicine. Now when I think back about it, I can understand that it was treetops who made me see the world in a different angle.
I can remember being on a treetop by the road. It was a footpath by the house where there was only occasionally a man or a women walked. I used to watch them, mostly nobody was aware I was on the tree. I wished I could sleep on the tree but was afraid will fall down. A small mango tree which never had mangoes. But a perfect hiding place to be away from a world. Sometimes hours and hours went on a tree top. Doing nothing, just with the mind. Maybe a little bit of wind to make a Noice from swaying leaves.
From Flipped Movie
I know at least it's not only me who liked to sit on a tree top. Julie Baker from the movie, Flipped used to climb her Sycamore tree. From Brain's point of view (her bf), it was her stupid tree. But I know it wasn't. The time on the treetop until the school bus arrived and watching the sunrise, and sunsets were her best moments of life. Unfortunately, her tree was cut down, by the authorities against all her protests. I was touched when she was given a painting of her tree, and film ended when she is helped by Brian to plant a tree in her garden.
It is unfortunate that I have not been on a tree top ever since I left the school. When was the last time you were on a tree? Or are you just waiting to climb a mountain next year?
In summary, advantages of being on a tree top- have you ever climbed a tree.
Being on a tree gives you opportunity to be close to the nature, see the world in a different perspective.
Observe nature in silence, without tiring yourself as in a hike.
