If we think about it how to model the world in a function, we will want to know the best function possible. We have been modeling the world ever since we were born, I will take you through some of these models, and then discuss the model of the world. But for whom curious, simply put, it doesn't matter what function you choose, but world can only be a continuous function. Not a discrete one.
If there is a universal function to describe the universe and everything about it, it will be a continuous function.
Models of the world.
We have different kinds of models of the world. If you ask a geologist, he will say the universe is made up of matter, chemicals, made up of elements form this matter which is condensed in stars and planets and Commets. And a chemist would agree with it.
If you ask a mathematician, he will describe the world in functions, from Newtonian equations to quantum wave function. And he would give examples to show how the planets move and particles travel in space. And a physicist would agree with him.
If you ask a philosopher, she will model the world as deterministic or stochastic and explain oneself as a duel or singular form. She would describe the god good evil and ethics. And invite student to question this.
If you ask a Novelist, he will describe the world in words, record the events in written form for us to model our own world with the images. And the poet will provide a meaning to it while An artist would capture it in a drawing.
Not only this, individually all of us have our own model of the world, reshaped from time to time since we understood the words which describe it. With each layer of knowledge, the model updated from v1 to now v23350987. Imagine how many models of the world out there.
A universal model of the world
Now if we look at a universal model of the world, to be put up by a mathematical function, it should capture everything else. It should capture every model, including, philosophical and linguistic and even artistic ones. Because all these processes are part of the universe itself. It is obvious such complex modeling is not for commoners, like day to day working co-operate minded individuals like you and me. Yet, we are capable of some intuition about such functions if we put our minds to it.
You may ask why? It is to better model the world and update it to 33350987th version of it.
Whatever the model scientist and mathematicians will come across in the distant future will be a continuous function. If you know some basic stuff, for a continuous function you can input any value and there will be an output. These values we input are discrete. However, the function describes a relationship of variables against each other or relative change of an input variable. So, what is constant (or common characteristic) in such a function is change.
Only thing that is common to continuous functions is that it is bound with change, you can only see this if you graph the function. This is the intuition we can get when we look at the world in a hypothetical continuous function. We can expand on this idea. If something is bound to change, moment by moment, there cannot be inherent value to it. The values we see are only artificial, cross sections of the function which lasts only fraction of a time, or not at all.
Does this give us opportunity not to follow rules? I would say not at all. But it will help us to understand problems otherwise unsolvable by science. As an example in understanding oneself, understanding death and happiness.
You will find more about these intuitions throughout the blog. Happy hunting.
In summary How to Model the world in a mathematical function:
There are different ways to model the world.
If there is a universal model of the world it would be a continuous function
Change is a characteristic of a continuous function.
Hence the world is only changing.
